Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder AKA PTSD

Ever wonder what PTSD is? PTSD is a mental health condition that’s triggered by a terrifying event. The person who develops PTSD could have either experienced a terrifying event or witnessed one. Often times, PTSD is also triggered by a lot of surgeries.

Symptoms of PTSD are flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, as well as unctontrollable thoughts about the event. Those with PTSD will often times have flashbacks depending on the situation they are in. For instance, if you had a bad experience in a hospital and you have to go to the hospital then you might have flashbacks from the bad experience. For myself, I do have PTSD but it’s minor because of one bad hospital situation I went through my senior year of high school.

PTSD or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is often times a struggle to deal with. Those who suffer from PTSD will often times have trouble sleeping and concentrating. The intensity of the symptoms for each person can vary depending on each persons situation. Some aren’t as severe as others are.

If you have PTSD so bad that it causes you to have suicidal thoughts please go get medical help! You may even want to reach out to a close friend or relative to help you calm down. Even call the suicide hotline if you feel like you’re suicidal. There are plenty of people out there willing to help you.

What are the risk factors with PTSD Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder? You might experience intense or long-lasting trauma. Also, having experienced other trauma early in life such as childhood abuse. Lastly, another one is lacking a good support system of family and friends.

As you can see, PTSD or otherwise known as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder can have different degrees of severity. There are different kinds of traumatic events that can be the cause of PTSD or post-traumatic stress disorder. One is combat exposure, those who are in the military or who have been in the military might experience this type of traumatic event.
